Investments in Armenia. Armenian market
Today investments from the various countries of the world: Russia, France, the USA, Holland, Argentina, Germany, are involved in the economy of Republic of Armenia. In the first three quarters of 2010 the level of foreign investments in the real sector of the economy of RA has reached the sum of 472.2 million US dollars. The basic proportion of investments made by investors from Russia has reached over 191.3 million U.S. dollars. From statistical reports it is cleared that direct investments from private and legal bodies from Russia in industrial, power, communication and other spheres of RA economy, for the specified period have made about 40 % from total amount of foreign investments. Russian “giant” companies such as “Inter RAO UES”, “Gazprom”, “Gazprombank”, “Bank VTB”, “VimpelCom ”, “Rostelecom”, “Russian Railways (RZD)” and others actively operate in Armenian market.
“Inter RAO UES” today operates the work of the Armenian atomic power station, also has got the full share holding of “Electric networks of Armenia” JSC and within 2009-2011 the company is going to invest more than 180 million US dollars in RA economy, approximately as much is going to invest joint venture "ArmRosgazprom" which basic shareholder is the company "Gazprom". In the telecommunication market of Armenia, which is about 47% of all investments, Russian big companies also actively participate , so “VimpelCom “ owns 100% of shares of “ArmenTel”, and “Rostelecom” has 80% of the shares of “ Vivacell-MTS”.
The second country that makes great investments in Armenian market is France. The direct investments from France for the first three quarters of 2010 has reached over 116.3 million U.S. dollars. The next is Holland – 63,6 million, Argentina – 29 million, Germany – 21,2 million US dollars. Today about 3700 various companies with foreign capital are registered in Armenia.
